Klonopin is advised for short duration treatment of anxiety related diseases besides treating some kind of seizures like petit mal, akinetic and myoclonus and Lennox-Gastut pattern of disease. Klonopin can be combined with other drugs for treating seizures. The dose of Klonopin is adjusted according to the patient's requirement. In case an adult is suffering from seizures to start with dose is 1.5 mg daily to be spread up in three doses. The dose is to be increased to the extent of 0.5 to 1 mg daily to be taken every 3 days till the seizures get controlled. If there are side effects felt the dose can not be increased further. The maximum dose is 20 mg per day. In conditions of panic disorders the starting dose is 0.25 mg two times per day. The dose can be increased as the targeted dose maximum 1 mg per day after 3 days.

Kolonopin Missed dose:If one has missed the dose and it is time to take next dose skip the missed dose and take the next dose as scheduled without attempting to get overdosed by taking the missed dose as well as next dose.

Klonopin possible side-effects:The very commonly encountered side effects with the administration of Klonopin is sedation, which almost 50 % of the patients are reported to experience. Feeling of Dizziness is found in about 33 % patient and others may feel weakness or not able to walk straight forward, feeling depressed, headaches and insufficient sleep. As observed with other benzodiazepines there is physically felt dependence after ceasing to take Kolnopin after continuously taking it for few months, which is exhibited by feeling of loss of self worth, agitation and sleeplessness. There can be tremors, muscular cramped, vomiting and sweating. Keeping the above in view withdrawal of Kolnopin should be gradual instead of abrupt. Administration of antiepileptic medications along with Klonopin can induce increase in risk of suicidal tendencies and behavior. Proper observation and care of the patient is to be taken.
Klonopin warnings and precautions:Klonopin, as in the case of all benzodiazepines class of drugs, increase the action of drugs, which do the slowing of brain's activities, like alcohol, barbiturates, and narcotics causing increase in sedation. Klonopin in combination with other benzodiazepines can cause fetal damage or birth related deformities, if the pregnant women take during her first trimester. Considering the congenital risks Kolonopin should not be administered the first trimester and it would be better if necessary care is taken during entire period of pregnancy. Klonopin is secreted in the breast milk. Nursing mothers who are carrying on the activity of breast feeding to the infant should not take Klonopin.
